It is accurate. High-pressure air is let into the brake chamber when you depress the brake pedal. The pressure causes the brake mechanism to activate and slow the truck down. If you let the air straight out of the brake chambers before you were done braking you possibly wouldn't even have enough pressure for one complete stop.

In order for the retarader to work, you must have a gearbox with retarder. You can try and reassign the buttons to control retarder and cruise-control in settings. I have a G920, and have assigned the ABXY buttons
Retarders are ideal if you are going downhill and using cruise control - it enables you to maintain the locked speed without the truck speeding up downward. #3. Sandhill Mar 8, 2020 @ 1:44pm.
